"It helped me better understand ESG, strategy and reporting. Now I know what to look for and which questions to ask."

Tell us about your professional experience before discovering the Corporate Governance Institute

I already had a Diploma in Corporate Governance and was a board member of Ignitis, a Baltic energy company, and Chair of the Remuneration & Nominations Committee.

What challenges or opportunities were you facing in your career or on your board before taking our course?

I was trying to understand CSRD and CSDDD as Ignitis had to complete reporting in 2025. There were many different reporting bodies, tools both globally and regionally, that confused me. I wanted to understand ESG and the role of board members. What should I focus on? What questions should I ask the leadership team?

Why did you choose to study for the Diploma in ESG with us to help with these challenges/opportunities?

I liked their style and approach to their webinars and newsletters. I also led some webinars with the Corporate Governance Institute that gave me an inside view.

Can you describe any particular elements of the course that stood out to you or made a significant impact?

How ESG improves business strategy and helps organisations to look long-term and identify the risks to a business. CSDDD is a very useful tool to help develop an integrated business strategy.

How has completing this course influenced your career, leadership approach, or governance or ESG skills?

It helped me better understand ESG, strategy and reporting. Now I know what to look for and which questions to ask.

What did you find most beneficial about studying with the Corporate Governance Institute?

The flexibility and the mix of learning styles that helps to make the learning enjoyable. It made it easy to keep focused and the content was interesting and practical.

What advice would you give future learners wishing to pursue the Diploma in ESG?

Do it. It helps you understand that ESG is a business imperative, not just a reporting tool.
