Tell us about your professional experience before discovering the Corporate Governance Institute

I was a Non-Executive Director and audit committee member in various listed companies. Prior to that I was a managing director at a boutique management consulting firm. Before that I served as CFO at Rio Tinto for their Indonesia office and spent a decade as auditor at PwC.

What challenges or opportunities were you facing in your career or on your board before taking our course?

I understood bits and pieces when corporations talked about the ESG, but didn’t have the full context, history, framework, etc to learn about ESG in more structured ways.

Why did you choose to study for the Diploma in ESG with us to help with these challenges/opportunities?

I took the Diploma in Corporate Governance before I enrolled for the Diploma in ESG. I found that the course helped me get more of a complete understanding in a structured way and it was delivered in a suitable way for me in my current situation. So I expected the methods and outcomes would be similar with Diploma in ESG too.

Can you describe any particular elements of the course that stood out to you or made a significant impact?

I would say the whole course helped give me a better understanding and gave me a holistic view of ESG.

How has completing this course influenced your career, leadership approach, or governance or ESG skills?

The course enhanced my understanding and by earning the Diploma it serves as a recognition of my ESG knowledge in comparison to other professionals who haven’t taken a formal course such as this one.

What did you find most beneficial about studying with the Corporate Governance Institute?

The real life examples that helped me better understand the context and information as well as the delivery method which was suitable with my current situation (learning anywhere at my own pace).

What advice would you give future learners wishing to pursue the Diploma in ESG?

Take some quiet time to focus on studying without any distractions to really get a deeper understanding of ESG and the practical insights to be implemented in real life to help learners elevate their careers.
