Let’s talk about succession planning

It’s a crucial boardroom question: does the company know where to find and how to prepare its leaders of the future?

Brian Stafford, our latest Corporate Governance Podcast guest, highlights that failing to prepare in this area brings significant organisational risk. Sometimes, if a wrong or unprepared leader takes over, it could be enough to cause the company two years’ worth of trouble, he says.

That’s why succession planning is so crucial; it allows the time and space to identify who can take key leadership roles after the incumbent retires. Succession planning allows time for networking, mentoring and developing the skills necessary to take the reins of a business.

Brian brings essential insights on how to do this, as well as new data showing how underprepared many boards are in this area.
