Tell us about your professional experience before discovering The Corporate Governance Institute.

I’ve worked in the sustainability field for a few years and have always invested in my continuous improvement and knowledge in this space, particularly in ESG frameworks. I’ve helped a great deal with accountability around ESG projects, but I wanted to gain even more practical insights and to deepen my expertise in such a broad and important area. 

What challenges or opportunities were you facing in your career or on your board before taking our course?

Having multiple sources of information, which might not sound like a challenge, but sometimes can be an issue. I wanted a course with a recognised structure that was full of useful knowledge and insights. I’ve invested a lot of time into studying ESG, but I was now seeking a more mature approach with updated information.

Why did you choose to study for the Diploma in ESG with us to help with these challenges/opportunities?

I loved the format, the outlined structure and the information presented: up-to-date, clear and relatable to different scenarios from the biggest industries. TCGI’s team was on top of their game with regards to my needs; the professionalism and their ‘Irish style’, which I absolutely connected with. Simply great professionals close to my taste of learning. 

Can you describe any particular elements of the course that stood out to you or made a significant impact?

I really appreciated the clarity of the topics, the structured organisation of the scenarios and the resources linked to each ESG pillar. Governance, in particular, stood out to me. I have always felt a strong responsibility to help ensure that integrity is not only defined, but truly embedded and lived within an organisation, as this is essential for ESG to create real impact. Bringing this perspective into my advisory work shortly afterward made a significant difference for both me and my client. We all know that governance is the foundation: with or without the sustainability context, it remains one of the most effective de-risking strategies available.

How has completing this course influenced your career, leadership approach, governance or ESG skills?

Completing the Diploma in ESG has positively influenced my approach and skills. I review the content constantly, even after finishing the course.

How has it improved decision-making or performance within your organisation?

Yes, the Diploma in ESG’s actionable insights have helped me gain more clarity on the ESG matters for the clients I serve, as a Consultant, and Advisor.

What did you find most beneficial about studying with The Corporate Governance Institute?

The Corporate Governance Institute is aligned with my values: integrity, maturity, executive insights, and all with an organised and helpful team. I found it beneficial that, despite the course being over, the webinars were still available for non-premium members. These sessions have helped me keep in touch with new governance developments and continue my learning. At the same time they have kept me updated on the company’s other courses, which I might be interested to take to grow even further in the future.

What advice would you give future learners wishing to pursue the Diploma in ESG?

We are ‘learn-it-all’ professionals. The people who want to make a change in the sustainability area should invest in understanding ESG and help it evolve for better implementation and resilience of their business.
