Founded in 2020 to address the Corporate Governance Certification skills gap, the Corporate Governance Institute is a very high growth startup company that is fast becoming a leader in online education in the governance sector. While corporate governance might not be a household term, we are an EdTech company with ambitions to become the global leader in the €1 billion market of accreditation and certification in this field. Founded by two highly experienced industry veterans, the company recently received initial funding to accelerate its growth. 

The company has had global aspiration and reach from the start. This role will therefore require someone with an international view and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of digital channels.


You will work with the leadership team to further develop a creative and compelling Membership strategy that supports our B2C and B2B channels and meets our revenue targets. Your key objectives will be building membership awareness and positioning, thought leadership, and international expansion.

Specifically, you will be required to:  

  • Drive membership acquisition of individual and corporate members 
  • Meet agreed financial and member re-engagement targets
  • Build upon and enhance the existing membership offering for clients.
  • Develop, plan and implement a corporate membership programme.
  • Build relationships and alliances with organisations to acquire corporate members.
  • Work closely with the senior team to deliver on the business strategy and plan.
  • Work with the team to support our global commercial aspirations.

Along with our Head of Content, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering a comprehensive programme of membership content and activities. You will use data and insights to support your decisions and to ensure the budget is allocated against a return on investment metrics. 

You will work with the team and external agencies to define relevant customer segments and propositions, and market specifically to their needs across a wide range of international markets.

Some further responsibilities include:

  • Drive and contribute to the overall performance of member acquisition and retention rates.
  • Build and grow corporate membership by developing relationships and presenting to large blue-chip organisations.
  • Continually improve the member journey and the overall member experience
  • Ensure the balance of members’ needs meets the objectives of the Corporate Governance Institute.
  • Manage member communication campaigns from concept through to design and delivery.
  • Liaise with members, partners and prospects to further build strong member relationships and connect with potential new members and partners. 


  • You have a background in a very fast moving start-up and early stage company.
  • Be commercially driven, professional and used to communicating and building relationships with senior level professionals. 
  • You need to show that you are a self starter and are comfortable with the constant change that a startup throws at you every day.
  • You need to show that you have gumption – this is one of the first things that we look for!
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience (preferably in marketing, sales, membership).
  • You need to be comfortable carrying a financial target.
  • Have strong verbal and visual communications and presentation skills 
  • Comfortable working with working in small teams while having the strength to operate on your own and manage your own time.
  • You need to be highly organised, balancing time in the office with meeting members, partners, and corporate members.
  • Have the ability to establish strong internal relationships, working particularly close to the Management team.
  • It would be useful if you have been educated to degree level or possess a relevant business qualification.
  • In summary you need to be an ambitious membership management professional who is looking for a leadership role and the opportunity to make a big impact on an international scale.


While it is not necessary to have expert knowledge in all of these tools, you should be more than proficient in most of them.
